Welcome to Kindergarten Soccer

Hello everyone. I hope this email finds you enjoying spring break away from school (or at least the kids are). My name is Adam Sandefur, and I will be coaching your kids for spring soccer. I have coached two older children through WAA soccer for years and am excited to get started in the program with my youngest. I look forward to meeting you and your kids in the coming weeks.  This email is a quick informational note about some of the details for this season. You will likely get this email (or a very similar one) twice as I am sending it once through typical email and again through the team website. Hopefully, you will get at least one version of the email. Going forward I plan to just email via the WAA BlueSombrero website. So please make sure the email address you want used is properly registered with them and check the site for announcements, roster, and schedule. I will hand out instructions to access the website at our first practice. http://clubs.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?tabid=190600Mike Cerilli will also be coaching this year, and I look forward to his help. If anyone else is interested in helping at any point of the year, please let one of us know. Our season can officially begin in mid April. We will have 3 group practice sessions and 3 games this spring over a span of 6 weeks beginning April 13. You can pull the schedule off the website. For kindergarten, please note this is a coed league. Please have your child ready with equipment for the first practice. We are using a size 3 ball this year. Each kid needs to bring a ball and water bottle or other drink to practice. Shinguards are mandatory. They will not be allowed to play or practice without them.  Cleats are optional - but please be sure they wear some sort of athletic shoe. No jewelry (necklaces, bracelets, etc) or watches please either. I will hand out the team jerseys at the first practice as well. We are team Mexico this year. WAA is trying a pilot program where there are individual teams like their other organized sports rather than just the green/yellow reversible jersey they have used in the past. These jerseys are required for both our practices and games. The league is also requesting everyone wear solid black or white shorts at games. We will be outside so please dress weather appropriate as you deem necessary with your team colors on the outside.  If your child wears glasses, please take the precautions you think necessary to ensure their safety at games or practices.Starting on 4/13, practices will be Saturday mornings at 10:30a lasting one hour. We will practice at Patterson Elementary School. We will have one regular practice per week. Our first game is Saturday 5/4.I look forward to working with your kids this spring. Your support is essential. Please remain positive and supportive of their efforts all year long. Your approach to your own appropriate conduct will be a great example for the kids to learn from as well. Remember they are young, nervous, and ready to learn. Let the coaches and trainers instruct and the parents cheer for jobs well done. I know that we'll have a fun season. For your reference, you can find the code of conduct and rulebook online at www.waasports.org. We will talk about rules each week with the kids.  If you ever have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Email address is above. Home phone 630-904-7950. Cell 630-346-5614. I love to communicate via email, but feel free to drop me a call anytime. If you are not going to be able to make a practice or game, please please please contact me so that I can best plan activities/roles for that day with the right number of kids.I will touch base with all of you after the holidays to follow up that you received this email. I look forward to seeing you all out on the field.Thanks.Adam Sandefur
